Everton make move to finally seal Arthur transfer for David Moyes

Everton are coming for Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo during the winter window, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The newspaper reports in its print edition (21 January, pg 2), that the Toffees remain eager to sign the Brazilian and strengthen David Moyes’ midfield, with Juve expected to let the player explore his options.

The 28-year-old has not played since returning to Turin from his loan at Fiorentina last season and has been the subject of transfer interest at Goodison since long before Moyes’ arrival.

Everton could still sign Arthur from Juventus

Everton will continue to push hard under the new ownership of The Friedkin Group to get deals done in the final knockings of the transfer window.

The difficulty is persuading players – particularly loan targets – to enter straight into a relegation battle in the Premier League when they may have more glamorous offers on the continent.

When a player from a side like Juventus is being chased, it can become very easy to stay put – although in the case of Arthur who has not featured in the 2024-25 season and has suffered with injury, it could benefit both himself and Everton.

Another issue lies with the alleged standpoint of the Brazil star himself, who has appeared reluctant to do business with the Toffees due to loyalty to Liverpool – for whom he played just once on loan in 2022-23.

Everton continue to scour the market for any potential deals, with Arthur the latest to potentially appear on Merseyside to fight for Moyes and the Goodison faithful.
