David Moyes stance shared as Everton look abroad for new transfer

Everton manager David Moyes has no issue if Everton have to look abroad for transfer reinforcements, according to Joe Thomas.

The Liverpool Echo journalist shared the update on the Blues transfer plans on 22 January claiming that Moyes is keen to reinforce his team.

The market closes on 3 February and the Toffees are yet to make a signing to bolster the squad despite sitting just four points above the relegation zone.

The Blues are looking to bring in additions but they might have to avoid domestic players, Thomas confirmed, writing: “David Moyes would not be put off by a lack of Premier League experience should Everton have the chance to bring in signings from abroad. The Blues manager is keen for his squad to be strengthened this month and, given the club’s proximity to the bottom three, would like players who have the best chance of making an immediate impact.

“Moyes is of the belief that new additions can hit the ground running in the right circumstances even if they are new to the league.

“Everton may also need to look abroad for reinforcements given the club is currently using its two domestic loan spots, with Armando Broja and Jack Harrison on loan from Chelsea and Leeds United respectively.

“Talks have taken place with Chelsea about potentially ending Broja’s deal after he was stretchered off with a serious injury in the FA Cup game with Peterborough United earlier this month, but there has not yet been a breakthrough.”

Everton need signings this month

The Blues eased their relegation fears with a fantastic 3-2 victory against Tottenham on Sunday (19 January).

However, they could be dragged back into a survival battle with a bad result against Brighton on 25 January if Ipswich and Wolves secure positive results.

The Friedkin Group needs to back their new manager in the winter transfer window and allow him to strengthen the squad to further put ground between themselves and the bottom three.

The Goodison Park outfit are desperate for more quality, especially in the attacking areas, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring his first Premier League goal since 14 September in Sunday’s win.

The Blues’ other striker Beto has scored just one goal in the league this season, in the 1-1 draw with Fulham on October 26.

Therefore, the board needs to give Moyes the additions that he needs to ensure that they do not enter the new era at the Bramley-Moore Stadium in the Championship.
