Everton transfer round-up: Striker approach made, defender AWOL

Everton will remain busy in the remainder of the winter transfer window as eyes move towards the 3 February deadline.

There have so far been no arrivals nor departures from Goodison Park since the market became active this month, but the Toffees are still keen on strengthening the squad with exits also on the cards.

Goodison News rounds up the latest transfer talk on Everton in the past 48 hours.

Everton target Bah goes AWOL from training

Everton are pursuing the 18-year-old Real Valladolid defender Juma Bah, who the La Liga club have confirmed missed training on Wednesday without authorisation via an official statement (22 January).

Bah’s representatives have now informed Valladolid that they intend to “uniliaterally” terminate his deal, with the Toffees having shown an interest (Alan Nixon, 5 January) in bringing him to Goodison Park.

The teenage talent from Sierra Leone would cost up to £12million to bring in, with a defender also having to leave the club first to free up space in David Moyes’ squad.

Ernest Nuamah update issued by Fabrizio Romano

Everton’s transfer saga for Ernest Nuamah rolls on as Fabrizio Romano reports the Toffees could still revive a deal (via GiveMeSport, 21 January).

Fabrice Hawkins (16 January) initially reported a deal worth £16.8million to prise the Ghana international from Lyon had been agreed, but no progress has been made and the transfer has stalled.

Nuamah was additionally monitored by Goodison recruitment staff in the summer, while Fulham also pursued the winger.

Beto ready to leave for Serie A after Moyes denial

Beto has his “bags in his hand” to fly to Italy and complete an exit from Everton, TuttoSport has suggested (20 January).

David Moyes did not bring the Guinea-Bissau striker onto the pitch against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday (19 January), and he consequently sees little chance of a regular opportunity to make an impact on Merseyside.

Torino have been strongly linked with offering Beto an escape route back to Serie A, where he featured in a two-year spell at Udinese from whom Everton signed him in 2023.

Everton ramp up striker search with Embolo approach

Everton have joined the race to sign Monaco striker Breel Embolo, as reported by TBR Football (21 January).

The Toffees alongside West Ham United hold a solid interest in the 73-cap Swiss international, who Monaco are open to allowing to leave in the coming days, and Moyes increasingly needs a goalscorer.

However, Cesc Fabregas’ Serie A side Como – who have just signed ex-Blue Dele Alli – are understood to be leading the race for 27-year-old Embolo.
