Kyle Walker-Peters transfer: Everton ‘to complete sensible’ move at Goodison

Kyle Walker-Peters would be a “sensible” transfer target for Everton, Dean Jones says.

The Give Me Sport journalist believes it would make sense for the Toffees to bolster their defence by signing the Southampton full-back, who has been linked.

With full-backs supposedly wanted by the Blues, the 27-year-old could potentially solve their needs.

Speaking on the Market Madness podcast (22 January), Jones said: “Everton, they’re a club bouncing back under David Moyes.

“Now, ideally, they want someone for left-back and right-back. But personally, what I think they’ll do here is sign somebody who’s capable of filling both of those positions.

“So Kyle Walker-Peters, for example, was somebody they’ve been linked with, and it seems like a pretty sensible suggestion to me of somebody that could be gettable.”

Everton need defensive transfers for David Moyes

Ashley Young has been first-choice on the right-hand side of the defence this season.

The Englishman is arguably at the end of his career, and the Merseyside outfit should find a successor for the 39-year-old as soon as possible.

Seamus Coleman has been a loyal servant at the Toffees for several years, but it’s evidently time to move on from the injury-prone defender.

Everton have Nathan Patterson in their ranks who could provide the necessary solution at right-back, and it remains to be seen what the future holds for the Scottish ace.

Vitalii Mykolenko has cemented his place at left-back, and it doesn’t feel like the Blues desperately need a replacement.

Walker-Peters is a right-footed defender capable of playing in multiple positions, and his versatility could come in handy for Moyes.

The Toffees could seemingly lure him away from relegation-threatened Southampton and boost their hopes of survival in the Premier League immediately.

Whether a transfer before 3 February will be likely remains to be seen.

In other Everton news, a £20million bid could be enough to sign Ben Chilwell from Chelsea.
