Moyes to axe O’Brien as Lindstrom choice made – Everton predicted XI v Brighton

David Moyes could look to axe Jake O’Brien from his Everton starting XI for their upcoming Premier League clash against Brighton on Saturday.

The defender was handed his full top-flight debut by his new manager in their impressive 3-2 win over Tottenham last week.

However, as the former Lyon man’s natural position is that of centre-back, the Toffees lost a lot going forward, which is why Ashley Young is likely to come back and take his right-back spot back.

Jesper Lindstrom was also handed a rare start by the Scotsman and impressed when given the chance so it feels unlikely that he’d get dropped to the bench for someone such as Jack Harrison.

Everton to axe Jake O’Brien v Brighton

A lot of the futures of Everton’s players will likely be under question now that Moyes is at the helm, however, one player who certainly won’t be dropped is Jordan Pickford with the goalkeeper set to be the Toffees’ number one for years to come.

The defence is where we see the one and only change from their outing against Spurs with Young coming in for O’Brien at right back with Vitaliy Mykolenko in at left-back.

The two centre-backs will consist of James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite as the duo look to recreate their formidable partnership from last season.

In defensive-midfield, both Orel Mangala and Idrissa Gueye are likely to keep their roles in the squad due to the expected absence of James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam who are both sidelined due to injury.

Everton will then likely keep Lindstrom in at right wing after his industrious display last time out with star man Iliman Ndiaye occupying the other wing.

Then, in attacking midfield just behind the striker will likely be Abdoulaye Doucoure due to the absence of Dwight McNeil and then leading the line will be Dominic Calvert-Lewin who, much like Lindstrom, surprised with an impressive performance.
