Chelsea make Armando Broja ‘Ultimatum’ as offer made to Everton
Chelsea have made an Armando Broja “ultimatum” to Everton, according to The Mirror.
David Anderson reported via the newspaper’s print edition (25 January, page 68) that the Toffees want to cut short Armando Broja’s loan after his injury because they want to free up a loan slot and sign a new forward before the winter transfer window closes on 3 February.
The London giants, though, are unwilling to “just accept Broja back” and want the Goodison Park outfit to take one of their unwanted players on loan, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Carney Chukwuemeka already offered to them.
Everton in pickle over Chelsea and Armando Broja situation
Dewsbury-Hall and Chukwuemeka are not bad players by any means. Everton could certainly do with players of their calibre as they look to avoid relegation this season.
However, as Anderson pointed out, the Merseyside-based club are hoping to use the loan slot they free up from Broja’s exit to sign another forward.
It is no secret that the Toffees were trying to sign Ernest Nuamah from Lyon, but with that deal now looking unlikely [Alan Myers], they cannot afford to lose a loan spot for a midfielder, especially with time quickly running out.
Therefore, David Moyes’ side may wait until the end of the window before deciding whether or not to take accept Cheslea’s offer.
In the meantime, they will be hoping that they can convince the West London outfit to ease their stance.
West Ham United have notably been credited with an interest in Dewsbury-Hall and Chukwuemeka [The Telegraph, 5 January].
If the Hammers were to take one of them on loan this month, there is a chance that Chelsea may be ready to take Broja back without Everton having to sign one of their plans temporarily.
In other Everton news, the Toffees sent scouts to watch this defender in action in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, 23 January.
