Sky Sports make almighty Everton social media blunder v Brighton
Sky Sports’ official X account had a howler during the Everton versus Brighton match on Saturday.
The Blues got off to the worst possible start on Saturday (25 January) as Dominic Calvert-Lewin was forced off after 13 minutes with a suspected hamstring injury at the Amex.
However, the momentum shifted quickly as Joel Veltman handled the ball in his own penalty area, and after a VAR check, David Moyes’ men were awarded a penalty in which Iliman Ndiaye converted to take a one-goal lead heading into the interval – a scoreline Everton saw out.
And the Sky Sports X admin has had a shocker in their live reporting in a now-amended post that read: “Iliman Ndiaye scores from the spot to put Everton 1-0 up after Sean Dyche’s side were awarded a penalty!”
Sean Dyche will be buzzing with the Everton result
Sean Dyche has not been the Everton manager since 9 January, of course.
No Evertonian needs to be reminded of that information, but clearly, those behind the Sky Sports X account need telling – what a howler.
David Moyes will be all too pleased with the three points on the South Coast, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the goal.
Now, he must be knocking on The Friedkin Group’s door, with Calvert-Lewin potentially joining Armando Broja for a sustained period on the sidelines.
Beto, a player who has begged for a Goodison Park exit for the longest time cannot be relied upon as the only senior option to lead the line.

Suppose Dyche’s results against Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City were impressive in December – Moyes has taken it a step further by recording consecutive victories against teams who scored a combined seven goals against the Blues at the beginning of the campaign.
With less than a fortnight until the winter transfer window slams shut on 3 February, TFG cannot allow Moyes’ hard work to be in vain – the supporters will remain fearful of relegation until the prospect is mathematically impossible.
In other Everton news, the Toffees suffer a “gut punch” as two transfers are sealed elsewhere.
