Everton ‘to be fined by FA’ as suspensions mooted after Brighton controversy

Bryan King claims Everton will be fined by the Football Association after their players clashed with the Brighton squad on Saturday.

David Moyes’ side made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League with their 1-0 victory at the AMEX Stadium on 25 January, with Sky Sports making an almighty blunder during the clash.

However, the win was somewhat ruined by the scenes at full time as both sets of players clashed, with ex-FIFA referee Keith Hackett suggesting that an FA charge is on the cards for both clubs.

And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – has suggested some players could be suspended in addition to the club receiving a fine for the incident.

“We saw a similar incident between Aston Villa and Newcastle recently,” King said.

“An FA charge was handed out on that occasion. Therefore, Everton and Brighton are bound to be charged as well. It is completely unnecessary, when are people going to start realising that footballers are representing their football club and their city when they are out on that pitch?

“Something materialises over nothing, and it leads to a mass brawl. This is the kind of thing Moyes doesn’t need because it could now lead to players being suspended, and it will certainly lead to the club being fined. They have enough to think about Everton, without getting drawn into these situations.”

Everton to be charged by the Football Association?

Moyes is lifting the mood at Goodison Park with the club having secured wins over Tottenham and Brighton in the past couple of weeks.

However, the Everton boss won’t want those high spirits dampened by something as unnecessary as this – with Iliman Ndiaye also getting himself in trouble against Brighton.

If players are to be suspended, or even worse the club is fined, it will leave a sour taste in the mouths of supporters at a time when things appear to be moving in the right direction.

Therefore, Moyes needs to have words with his players to ensure that something similar doesn’t happen again.
