Sean Dyche ‘already put to shame’ after what Everton ace did for David Moyes

David Moyes already looks to have put Sean Dyche’s decisions to shame at Everton after back-to-back wins against Tottenham and Brighton.

The Scot’s return did not get off to the most brilliant of starts, suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa, but he has quickly turned his fortunes around with impressive victories.

Having taken a three-goal lead against Spurs at Goodison Park, Moyes will have been pretty distraught about his side conceding twice in the second half and nearly giving away two points.

However, their trip down to Amex Stadium was far more straightforward, with Iliman Ndiaye scoring the only goal of the game from the penalty spot, though that did include its own controversy.

While the squad is exactly the same as what Dyche had at his disposal, a new set of eyes seems to have unlocked something – or someone – that the former manager was completely ignoring.

Supporters travelling down to the Amex Stadium will have been concerned about Brighton’s star player, Kaoru Mitoma, but Moyes had a trick up his sleeve to keep the tricky winger quiet.

With Seamus Coleman still sidelined and Nathan Patterson working his way back to full fitness, centre-back Jake O’Brien has been filling in at right-back and helping steer the ship from defence.

Since signing from Lyon in a £16.4million deal during the summer [BBC Sport], he had been given just six appearances under Dyche, even when Jarrad Branthwaite was sidelined with a serious injury.

Instead, the former Burnley man chose Michael Keane to partner James Tarkowski, a recipe clearly made for disaster.

O’Brien and Moyes are now putting that decision to shame as the centre-back, out of position, has marked some very talented players out of the game in the Toffees’ back-to-back wins.

Supporters may never understand why Dyche continued to leave the multi-million defender on the bench as the Toffees suffered on the pitch, but those days are behind him now.
