Brian Brobbey transfer: Everton update emerges ‘as Premier League move wanted’

Ajax striker Brian Brobbey doesn’t want to join Everton in the winter transfer window, according to Mike Verweij.

The journalist reported via De Telegraaf’s Kick-Off podcast [27 January] that the 22-year-old isn’t interested in signing for the Toffees before the 3 February deadline.

While the Netherlands international wants to leave Ajax for the Premier League, he doesn’t fancy a move to Merseyside.

As relayed by Voetbalprimeur, Verweij said: “If a Premier League club like West Ham or Spurs comes along [he’ll maybe leave], but he doesn’t really want to go to Everton.”

Everton don’t need Brian Brobbey transfer

The Goodison Park faithful will seemingly be pleased to learn that the Dutch forward doesn’t want to sign for them, considering his underwhelming goalscoring return this season.

Brobbey has made 29 appearances in all competitions for Ajax this season, scoring three goals and providing seven assists.

While the Toffees evidently need a new number nine, they should pursue someone with a proven track record.

David Moyes will arguably have to rely on Beto for the foreseeable future as his first choice due to the fitness issues in the Everton squad.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury is a big blow for the Blues as they had heavily relied on the Englishman.

Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti are also unavailable, leaving Moyes little room to work with in the attack.

While the Scottish manager could surprise the fans and potentially play Abdoulaye Doucoure as a false nine, Kevin Thelwell and the recruitment team should buy a new centre-forward.

Brobbey isn’t someone who would excite the supporters anyway, and his rejection won’t be taken to heart.
