Everton fans ‘to have last laugh’ after what’s been said about Neal Maupay
Everton supporters will have the last laugh on Neal Maupay.
The Frenchman took aim at his parent club via X on 29 December in a needless troll following the 2-0 loss against Nottingham Forest, with ex-boss Sean Dyche dismissing the antics despite outrage from the supporters.
Nevertheless, as always with players with a loud mouth and minimal footballing ability, the club will have the last laugh after French news outlet Le Figaro Sport (28 January, pg21) destroyed the “sluggish Maupay” under its “flops” section after this weekend’s action.
Maupay was accused of being “slightly arrogant” but ultimately “come back down to earth”, while the report added that “Marseille fans may be worried” after his recent displays.
No love lost between Neal Maupay and Everton
It is the most satisfying feeling to see such arrogance cut down in scintillating fashion.
Maupay has developed a reputation more for being a keyboard warrior than a top-level footballer and responded to his Everton jibes as being “himself” – there aren’t enough offensive words in the dictionary to describe what he is.
While most Evertonians unleashed their wrath on the loanee, it is worth noting that such explosive reactions are exactly what Maupay wants when he pokes the bush.
Therefore, adopting a approach similar to pundit Micah Richards, who chose to see the funny side behind the incident, will lead to lower blood pressure and better yet, depriving Maupay the reaction he craves.

The 28-year-old has only managed three Ligue 1 goals in 15 outings for Marseille this term, so his focus should be on winning over his supporters in France – his loan move will become permanent at the end of the season.
Nevertheless, he will have a blossoming career as a social media influencer when he eventually decides to hang up his boots.
In other Everton news, the latest injury blow is “the worst possible outcome” for the Toffees.
