Everton ‘to use Beto in player-plus cash deal’ for big-name forward

Bryan King has speculated that Everton could use Beto as part of a player-plus-cash deal.

The ex-Goodison scout doesn’t think the striker can be allowed to leave unless a new forward is brought in, with funds to be made available as the Toffees go in hunt of two late signings [via iNews, 30 January].

Beto has been linked with a move to Torino, with the Serie A club confident of agreeing a deal with Everton after submitting an offer worth £15million for the 26-year-old [via TuttoSport, 29 January].

However, King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – has suggested that Beto could be used as part of a different transfer deal instead.

“I think the deal for Beto to join Torino could be scrapped if Everton don’t sign a new striker,” King said.

“It is a very delicate situation at the moment, and it was bad news for Moyes that Dominic Calvert-Lewin got injured because he could have lifted his performances I feel.

“However, they need to find a replacement, and that might mean bringing somebody in on loan because I can’t see them signing a major player with the money they have available.

“Therefore, they might even keep hold of Beto, or use him as part of a deal to sign a big-name forward.”

Everton to use Beto as part of player-plus-cash deal?

Beto clearly has no future at Goodison Park, with the player seemingly desperate to move on. Therefore, it would make sense for his future to be resolved before 3 February, rather than allowing the situation to drag on until the summer.

However, with Calvert-Lewin out injured, the priority for Everton and Moyes has to be ensuring that they don’t leave themselves short of options, with Beto one of the few striking options the club currently has.

Therefore, unless a replacement is signed, the striker shouldn’t be allowed to leave.

However, if he can be used in a deal which allows him to move on while Everton bring in a player they want, that could be the best outcome for all parties involved.
