Everton want to sign midfield gem as Sheffield United stance shared

Everton are one of the many clubs wanting to sign Sheffield United youngster Louie Marsh, according to TBR Football.

The online source reports [30 January] that Crystal Palace, Brentford and Southampton are all keeping tabs on the 20-year-old, though the Blades have no interest in him leaving permanently.

It is understood, however, that the Championship club intend to loan the player out before the transfer window slams shut, likely to League One, despite the Toffees being admirers of the player.

Everton to push for Louie Marsh transfer?

With multiple Premier League teams interested, there is clearly a reason why the Toffees have joined the race for the young midfielder’s signature.

Marsh has the potential to be a special attacking midfielder, already boasting a first-team goal for the Blades, but with just four senior appearances to his name, he is not who the Toffees need right now.

David Moyes has taken over at Goodison Park with the Toffees locked in a relegation battle, and the new manager needs signings before 3 February who can come in and make an instant impact.

Injuries to Dwight McNeil, Tim Iroegbunam and, now, Orel Mangala have left Moyes light in reinforcements in the middle of the park, but Marsh would not be the player to fix that.

His only other experience away from Bramall Lane came during a short loan with Doncaster Rovers, making eight appearances for the League Two side last season.

Mangala and Idrissa Gana Gueye have been trusted as the midfield partnership this season, but with half of the duo now missing long-term, a new signing is desperately needed before the transfer window slams shut.

The Friedkin Group’s takeover should mean that fees can be freed up before 3 February but supporters will not be holding their breath after so much disappointment with Farhad Moshiri.

In other Everton news, Sean Dyche has already been put to shame after what David Moyes has done at Goodison Park.
