Alcaraz transfer twist at Everton as Alan Myers drops potential bombshell

Everton are yet to complete a deal for Flamengo midfielder Charly Alcaraz, according to Alan Myers.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (31 January), the Toffees signed off on a loan deal for Alcaraz which includes a buy clause which could become mandatory if certain conditions are met.

Flamengo even announced the transfer via the club’s official website (31 January).

However, Myers wrote via X (31 January), “I understand that Everton have an interest in the player [Alcaraz] at this point but there is no deal done at this point.”

When asked by a supporter if it was not weird that Flamengo had officially announced the transfer if the deal wasn’t yet complete, Myers responded via X (31 January), “It is”.

Everton twist emerges in transfer pursuit of Charly Alcaraz

This is one of the more confusing transfer sagas in recent times.

Once Romano drops his trademark, “Here we go”, or reports that a deal has been signed off, that transfer is usually as good as complete.

However, when a club officially announces the deal, that should ordinarily end any speculation. Therefore, Myers’ suggestion that Alcaraz hasn’t yet joined Everton is a baffling one.

Supporters will hope for clarity soon, especially with the Toffees in desperate need of a new midfielder after David Moyes’ update on Orel Mangala.

Hopefully for Everton, this is just a bit of late confusion, and a deal is done. However, if things do fall through, it would be frustrating, and most of all shocking.

In addition, it would mean that the Toffees would need to go hunting for a new midfielder, with not much time left before the winter transfer window shots on 3 February.

In other Everton news, one exit-linked forward could be used in a player-plus-cash deal.
