Evan Ferguson transfer: Everton consider late move for Brighton ace in PSR twist

Everton are considering a deadline-busting move for Brighton star Evan Ferguson, sources have told TEAMtalk.

The online source reports [31 January] that, with a loan deal off the cards for the Toffees unless Armando Broja can be sent back to Chelsea, a permanent transfer is a possibility.

It is understood that David Moyes values the Republic of Ireland international at £25million – below the Seagulls’ valuation – and the Toffees need to be careful before submitting an offer due to their current PSR situation.

Evan Ferguson to Everton after Dominic Calvert-Lewin blow?

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has joined Broja in the treatment room after going off injured during the 1-0 win over Brighton last week, lasting just 13 minutes before being replaced.

Even with the 27-year-old fit, Moyes will be desperate for a new attacking threat to be signed before the transfer window slams shut, with Iliman Ndiaye leading the way with five league goals.

While Ferguson has only netted once in the league this season, missing a few games through injury, he is an incredible talent, having been dubbed “amazing” by former teammate Alexis Mac Allister [BBC Sport].

At just 20 years of age, he already has 17 goals for the Seagulls in 79 appearances and is a regular at international level, scoring four times in 18 caps for the Republic of Ireland.

The Toffees have shown a brand-new spark under Moyes’ leadership, beating Tottenham and Brighton in back-to-back matches, and if that is to continue, a striker signing is needed.

That has been a continuous issue at Goodison Park for several seasons, and with The Friedkin Group now in charge, there is no reason why they should not splash out on the young striker.

With multiple teams interested in his signature, however, time is running out for the Merseysiders to get business done before the transfer window slams shut on 3 February.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are interested in signing a midfield gem from Sheffield United.
