Arthur Melo has been linked with a move to Goodison Park, as contact was made with Juventus for the midfielder recently [Tutto Juve, 20 January].
But Fabrizio Romano has now revealed on his personal X account (31 January) that the Brazil international is on his way to Girona on loan.
While Everton may be in desperate need of a midfielder, the 28-year-old would have been a gamble for them due to his consistent injury problems over the years.
Liverpool had taken a punt on Arthur a few years back but ended up regretting it, as he was on the sidelines for the most part.
The Toffees need reliable players in the winter transfer window, and the Brazilian ace clearly isn’t someone who can be counted on.
With the 28-year-old set to return to Spain, the Blues must shift their focus quickly with only a few days left in the winter window.
