Everton make double approach to seal last-gasp Rohl transfer
Everton have made two proposals to sign Merlin Rohl from Freiburg, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The journalist reported via X (1 February) that Freiburg received two approaches for the midfielder with negotiations taking place earlier in the week.
However, his current club have decided to turn down all the approaches in the hope of their man staying put.
Everton turn down for Merlin Rohl transfer
Although Everton have looked stronger under the management of David Moyes, the manager has been eager to bring in some new faces in the hope of strengthening his side to secure Premier League survival this term.
Furthermore, with injuries to the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Armando Broja and Orel Mangala, Moyes certainly needs attacking reinforcements.
The 22-year-old has one assist in 11 appearances, so he would need to improve in the final third.
The Toffees have lacked specifically at the top end of the field this term and if they are going to secure their safety with ease, fixing their problems there will be a priority.
It seems as though the Blues will have to push the boat out if they want to secure the signing of Rohl given Freiburg are reluctant to sell.
However, Moyes would be excited to get a young attacking player in his ranks to push his side on in the remainder of the campaign.
