Moyes Exclusive: Everton manager wants ex-Brighton chief Doolan in double hire
Bryan King believes David Moyes is keen for Everton to hire Brighton Technical Director David Weir and former scout John Doolan.
The ex-Goodison scout has praised the work of Doolan, who is known for scouting forwards – a profile of player Everton are looking to sign before 3 February.
Weir has already been mooted to return to Goodison Park [via The Esk, 10 January ] with Kevin Thelwell expected to depart.
Therefore, King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – has suggested that Weir could bring Doolan back to Merseyside with him.
“There is also a good scout who used to work at Brighton called [John] Doolan,” King said.
“He was at Everton for many years, and he was taken from the club by Weir. Doolan was also there when I was there, he’s a very good football man and a scout who works specifically scouting forwards.
“Those are two people that I’m sure Moyes would like in his backroom team.”
David Moyes to recommend Everton raid of Brighton
Noolan was recently made redundant by the Seagulls [via Training Ground Guru, 21 November]. Therefore, he might be looking to make a move to a new Premier League club, and having spent 17 years with the Toffees previously, a reunion with Moyes could work perfectly.
Brighton’s recruitment has been exceptional in recent years, with the South Coast club signing some talented players for nominal fees. As a result, bringing in two people responsible for that recruitment, who have previous experience working with Moyes and Everton, could prove fruitful.

However, it remains to be seen if a deal can be agreed.
In other Everton news, the club are expected to sign a “big-name” player after a £30million-plus boost.
