Richard Keys in hysterics at Andy Gray nickname for Goodison during Everton win

Andy Gray left Richard Keys in hysterics after referring to Goodison Park as “Fortress Goodison” during the Everton win against Leicester City.

The Toffees secured an excellent 4-0 win against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side on Saturday (1 February), with Abdoulaye Doucoure scoring after just 10 seconds.

This strike was added to by a Beto brace and a late Iliman Ndiaye effort as the Evertonians impressed in front of goal once again.

This wasn’t wasted on Gray live on beIN Sports 1 (3:56pm), as he said: “Three goals in the first half of David’s second game, against Tottenham, and now three goals in the first half of this one.

“What is going on at Goodison? I think they’re calling it ‘Fortress Goodison’, Richard.”

This left Keys in hysterics as he laughed loudly alongside his long-time colleague.

It is safe to say that Goodison is once again a tough place to travel to with Moyes at the helm.

Since the Scot took over from Sean Dyche, the Toffees have lost just one game, which came in his first outing against Aston Villa, winning the other three.

His second showing came against Tottenham where his side went 3-0 up before the interval against a side who had ambitions of European qualification before the season started.

As impressive as that performance was, the showing against Leicester was arguably the best under the ex-Manchester United boss.

With Doucoure bursting out the trap early to net the opener, it always looked like it was going to be a positive day in L4.

Things were made easy in the end with some poor defending from Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side, but that doesn’t take anything away from the Toffees’ showing.

Moyes will now be hoping that “Fortress Goodison” remains as so, especially with the Merseyside Derby coming up.
