Everton ‘force hand of Sevilla’ after Juanlu Sanchez transfer approach

Everton have seemingly forced Sevilla to decide on the future of Juanlu Sanchez after a late offer on transfer deadline day.

The Toffees made a late push on Monday (3 February) to sign the right-back on loan, but the La Liga outfit rejected the offer [Diario de Sevilla].

Juanlu has emerged as a regular first-team player for the Andalusian club this season, making the Blues’ approach understandable.

Ashley Young had been Sean Dyche’s preferred right-back in the current campaign, but David Moyes has recently given Jake O’Brien opportunities in that position.

On the other hand, Nathan Patterson looks to be on his way out of Goodison Park after struggling for minutes.

Juanlu Sanchez contract twist emerges after Everton news

Sevilla have offered Juanlu a new bumper contract to secure his future at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, according to Alberto Fernandez.

The ABC de Sevilla journalist revealed that the terms proposed by the La Liga outfit to the 21-year-old are much higher, but they will have to push hard to convince him.

Speaking on El Pelotazo (4 February), Fernandez said: “[Juanlu] will be offered more than what was offered to youth players. The club says that the player has been sent an offer. They will have to push harder.”

Everton arguably need to think about the future of the right-hand side of their defence, with Seamus Coleman consistently injured, Young in the final stretch of his career and O’Brien a natural centre-back.

With Patterson seemingly not fancied at the Blues anymore, it becomes essential for the Toffees to sign a new right-back next summer.

Juanlu still hasn’t agreed to anything at Sevilla, and with the Spanish club not as successful as they’ve been in the recent past, the Merseysiders will feel they have a chance to convince the 21-year-old.
