Jake O’Brien tipped to become new Everton star after Goodison switch-up
Everton can reap the rewards of Jake O’Brien as David Moyes allows him to flourish at Goodison Park, according to Ian Darke.
The TV commentator exclusively told Goodison News that he can see O’Brien enjoying the clean slate and can become an integral player in Moyes’ system.
The Irishman was signed from Lyon last summer but found chances at a premium under Sean Dyche, but has been installed at right-back of late by the new manager who returned to Merseyside last month.
“He’s claiming his place in the team. When a new manager comes in, some players who were out with the washing can come back into the side,” Darke said.
“It’s always a clean slate and if the manager likes the look of them they can become important players.
“O’Brien is certainly one who seems to be taking that chance.”
Jake O’Brien ‘like a new signing’ for Everton
Despite having been at Everton throughout the campaign, O’Brien can be considered as the old cliche goes, like a new signing.
The 6’6” powerhouse excelled in France last year, even claiming five goals with an eye on each penalty box due to his stature.

O’Brien, 23, has garnered plenty of plaudits over recent weeks for his performances even out of his natural position, starting in each of the Toffees’ three successive league wins to date which have steered his side nine points above the relegation zone.
