Richard Keys cannot believe VAR update with Everton in new reveal

Everton were involved in a VAR mistake earlier this season and Richard Keys cannot believe the latest updates from the PGMOL.

One of the incidents included was Christian Norgaard’s red card against the Blues on November 23, which the panel claimed should not have been awarded and was subsequently overturned on appeal.

The BeIN SPORTS pundit took to X to ridicule the governing body, saying: “Seriously? Who compiles this stuff? Oh – PGMOL do.”

Secrecy surrounding VAR does not benefit Everton

The fact that the Premier League has refused to release the missed interventions is ridiculous.

Some of those decisions may come to affect the Blues in a major way if they slip back into relegation danger towards the end of the campaign.

For example, the decision to not award a penalty to Beto in the 4-0 win against Leicester could come back to haunt the Toffees if they were relegated due to goal difference, which is highly unlikely now anyway.

It also leaves the PGMOL open to suggestions of bias and cover-ups and leaves supporters with little faith in the admissions that they do make every once in a while.

There needs to be more transparency surrounding decisions, especially contentious ones that involve VAR not a layer of secrecy.

Luckily for the Goodison Park outfit, they have a nine-point buffer on the drop zone so they should not need VAR to help them out this season.
