Everton told ‘record-breaking’ transfer needed for Richarlison return
Everton would love to re-sign Richarlison but a move would need to break their transfer record, according to Graeme Bailey.
The Blues were mooted to complete a sensational Deadline Day loan swoop for the forward after Tottenham confirmed the signing of Mathys Tel [Alan Myers] and Richarlison was linked with a return to Goodison Park throughout the winter transfer window.
However, Bailey did not rule out a revived move at the end of the season when speaking to Everton News (6 February) but admitted a move is unlikely as things stand.
He said: “The club love Richarlison and he loves the club – but to bring him back Everton would have to break their transfer record.
“Richarlison did not want to move to Saudi last summer but returning home to Everton could be an attractive option.
“Whilst unlikely I would not rule it out completely – it would certainly be some splash before moving to Bramley Dock.”
TFG should bring Richarlison home to Everton
The Brazilian has struggled at Tottenham since his £60million in 2022 and has been regularly mentioned in the same breath as Everton since, with Alan Myers pouring cold water over speculation about a return last summer.
Richarlison remains a fan favourite in the blue half of Merseyside, and his return to L4, soon to be L3, would be a phenomenal way to kickstart the new era at Bramley-Moore.
Everton are in a strong position to avoid a relegation battle this term, with David Moyes winning three of his opening four matches in charge since succeeding Sean Dyche to move his side nine points clear of the drop zone.
Furthermore, a move at the end of the season makes perfect sense, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to walk away from Goodison Park at the end of his contract and question marks surrounding Beto and whether he, too, will push for a move in the summer.

On 18 January, Richarlison posted a video via TikTok of the Blues support during his final match with the Toffees, in the clearest ‘come and get me plea’ seen in the Premier League since West Brom forward Peter Odemwingie infamously showed up at Queens Park Rangers’ ground on Deadline Day 2013 [BBC Sport].
Even talkSPORT host and ex-Spurs man Jamie O’Hara (29 September) admitted a transfer would be the best move for all parties.
Everton wants the move, Richarlison wants the move – it is up to The Friedkin Group to give Moyes and the supporters the striker they are crying out for.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are in safe hands with TFG despite an “unhappy” David Moyes admission.
