Liverpool City Mayor ‘has got to be joking’ with new Everton update for Bramley Moore

Liverpool City Mayor Steve Rotheram has got it wrong with his announcement for Everton fans travelling to Bramley Moore Dock.

The Toffees are preparing to move into their new arena next season with the final touches being done on the ground every day until it eventually opens.

Fans are preparing to move away from Goodison and will be hoping for a positive end to the campaign under David Moyes to sign off on a positive note.

With that being said, after the latest update shared by the City Mayor, supporters may be more keen on staying put in L4.

Liverpool City Mayor shares bizarre Bramley Moore Stadium update

Travel to and from the new stadium was always going to need a solution given the two-mile distance between Goodison and the docks.

Given that Sandhills station is the nearest to the arena, changes were always going to be necessary to accommodate the number of people coming in and out.

With that being said, the building of a “new fan zone” is nothing more than metal railings put up to create a snaking queue to eventually get up onto the platform.

Given how long this new arena build has been in the pipeline, there was surely more than enough planning time to do more than a large queuing system.

If this was the best option that the council had to work with, no one is really going to speak up against it but calling it a “fan park” is a bit odd.

Everton fans must get used to Sandhills station changes

The Bramley-Moore Dock stadium is going to represent a new era for the Toffees under the Friedkin Group with Moyes in charge.

This can only be seen as a positive on the blue side of Merseyside despite the emotion that departing Goodison will stir up.

The potential for TFG to bring in a large sponsorship fee for the arena is another plus which can not be overlooked.

With that being said, the changes to the transport links near the stadium seem to have been a second thought with nothing but some fences chucked up at an existing station.

This may prove to work and be effective next season but if it isn’t there have to be serious questions asked of the mayor and the city council.
