Ashley Young axed in two changes – Everton predicted XI v Liverpool

David Moyes is likely to only make a couple of changes to his Everton starting XI for their Premier League clash against Liverpool on Wednesday.

The Scotsman was brought in to replace Sean Dyche in the Toffees’ hot seat and since his arrival, he’s managed to turn things around for the Merseyside outfit.

The Toffees are set to face arch-rivals Liverpool in the rescheduled Merseyside derby on 12 February with Goodison Park set to host this fixture for the final time.

David Moyes to make Everton changes v Liverpool

Moyes won’t likely be looking to change much within his starting XI as it feels like he’s found a system that gets the best out of most of his players.

Jordan Pickford will retain his role between the sticks as, even though the Toffees are sitting towards the bottom end of the Premier League table, the Englishman has been one of their best players once again.

The back four is where the first change is likely with Vitalii Mykolenko coming back into the starting XI for veteran defender Ashley Young with Jake O’Brien, James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite all keeping their places in the team.

After two decent performances against Bournemouth on Saturday in their FA Cup loss, James Garner and Idrissa Gueye are also likely to keep their spots in Moyes’ starting XI.

The number 10 role is where Moyes’ second change could occur as Carlos Alcaraz should be put into the team as the playmaker as a replacement for Abdoulaye Doucoure.

On the flanks, Jesper Lindstrom and Iliman Ndiaye will be offering support to the Argentine in an attempt to set up Beto who’s likely to lead the line as he’s Moyes’ only natural number nine who’s fit to play.

David Moyes needs to ready his team for war against Liverpool

Before Liverpool were knocked out of the FA Cup by Plymouth Argyle on Sunday, it felt like there was no way that Slot’s men would allow Everton to end the game with three points getting added to their tally.

However, after the team at the bottom of the Championship managed to get one-up over the Reds, it feels like Everton could be in with a chance themselves.

Granted, players such as Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate will all be back in the starting XI but it still feels like Everton could have a slim chance of coming away with a win.

But, if Moyes doesn’t gear his team up for an all-out war, it could end up being messy for the Toffees.
