Everton work on Rayan Cherki deal as multi-million pound bombshell news emerges

The Friedkin Group’s era at Goodison Park is only just getting started as David Moyes continues to lead Everton on the pitch.

Profit and Sustainability Rules still look to be a slight problem for the Toffees, having only added Carlos Alcaraz to the ranks on loan during the winter window, but there is excitement building nonetheless.

Ignoring being knocked out of the FA Cup by Bournemouth on Saturday 8 February, Moyes’ side have won three consecutive games in the Premier League and will be looking to make it four against Liverpool.

Of course, there is still a long way to go until the Merseysiders begin to climb up the Premier League table and attempt to compete in Europe, but recent transfer targets sure make for positive reading.

Everton plotting Rayan Cherki signing

According to Fichajes, the Toffees are already working on an offer of £20.8million (€25million) for Rayan Cherki, who won a silver medal with the France Under-23s at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The Spaniard source reports [10 February] that Moyes’ side stand out as a transfer race heats up for the 21-year-old’s signature, with Lyon’s financial situation meaning his days are numbered in France.

It is understood that, with the player’s contract situation at a critical point, the management have realised this summer might be their last chance to make economic profit.

The Friedkin Group era is just beginning on Merseyside

With the Toffees still to move to the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium before the 2025/26 campaign kicks off, TFG have already done well to endear themselves to the supporters.

It was never going to be the most difficult task in the world, succeeding Farhad Moshiri as owners, but they have kicked things off on a very positive note, and a link to a promise playmaker will only increase that.

Cherki is one of the most promising young attackers in Ligue 1, already boasting 168 first-team appearances for Lyon, so it would be incredible to see the Toffees claim him for just £21million.

Undoubtedly, he will be attracting interest from clubs all over Europe, but if TFG really mean business, Moyes could be about to form a super-team if the funds can be made available.
