Everton v Liverpool player ratings: Branthwaite shines, Lindstrom flops

Everton put in a spirited fight to secure a 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.

With this one being the last Merseyside derby at the famous Toffees ground, the hosts certainly put in a spirited performance.

Beto opened the scoring, but Alexis Mac Allister’s and Mohamed Salah’s goals did not prove to be enough to get the job done for the visitors as James Tarkowski scored a late equaliser.

Here are our player ratings from the game:

Jordan Pickford – 5

Could’ve done better in goal but then also made a few decent saves to make up for his blushes.

Jake O’Brien – 6

A solid defensive display as he kept Liverpool’s left side shut for most of the game.

James Tarkowski – 7

Scored a wonderful late equaliser to ensure it was a picture-perfect finish at Goodison Park.

Jarrad Branthwaite – 8

Despite his side conceding two goals, he was their best player on the pitch, not just defensively but also with the ball at his feet.

Vitalii Mykolenko – 6

Was solid defensively but did not offer too much going forward for Everton.

James Garner – 7

Was one of the Toffees’ best players in possession and held his own in the middle of the park.

Idrissa Gueye – 6

Did a decent job in midfield as he put his body on the line and did his best to give the Reds players a run for their money.

Jesper Lindstrom – 3

A woeful display in which he struggled to find his teammates and get involved in proceedings.

Abdoulaye Doucoure – 5

Missed a big chance in the second half and apart from that he did look shaky on numerous occasions in the final third.

Iliman Ndiaye – 5

Barely influenced proceedings before he had to be taken off in the 25th minute with an injury.

Beto – 7

Started the game strongly, scored a goal and always tried to make things happen in the final third.
