Liverpool could be ‘set to profit’ from ‘biggest’ Everton mistake

Liverpool could be set to profit from an Everton mistake made two years ago if a certain development plays out this summer.

Throughout the years, Everton have endured rollercoaster-like seasons with several ups outweighed by many more downs.

Decisions made on and off the pitch have had a telling impact on the current situation at the club with the Toffees embroiled in a relegation fight season after season.

Recruitment has perhaps been the biggest talking point at Goodison Park, with many failed transfer stories severely halting any progress made by Everton, with another mistake coming to fruition.

Not only does it appear to be an error of judgement from the Toffees, but it could hand Liverpool a big boost.

Liverpool could take advantage of Everton failure

Very few players have been on the cards of both Merseyside clubs, but one more could be added to that list in the form of Mohamed-Ali Cho.

The Frenchman was once a Toffees player, having joined from Paris Saint-Germain in 2015 as a highly rated youth prospect but very little followed for him at Goodison Park.

Cho went on to depart Everton in 2020, before going on to succeed elsewhere and according to TEAMtalk (11 February), Liverpool are now interested in signing him.

Sources are said to have described his departure as “one of the club’s biggest mistakes in recent years” and should a deal happen, it will only pile further misery on Everton.

Everton need a summer transfer rebuild

If a deal for Cho to Liverpool does go through, it will leave a sour taste in the mouths of every Everton supporter, but they must allow that feeling to get in the way of what could be a massive summer for the Toffees.

With David Moyes at the helm and TFG in place, Everton have a major opportunity to right all of their wrongs this summer and get the club heading back in the right direction.

However, for that to be achieved, the right decisions need to be made when it comes to recruitment and the necessary investment has to be in place.

The Toffees have failed to deliver on both aspects for years now and that simply must change this summer with the potential certainly there for a greater future.

Everton need a transfer rebuild this summer, and if done correctly, it could be the kickstart needed for a successful few years.
