Bellew hits back at Liverpool fans after what they did before Everton equaliser
Everton secured a dramatic point against Liverpool with an equaliser that sparked wild scenes at Goodison Park.
James Tarkowski smashed home a 98th-minute volley to end the final Merseyside Derby at the Grand Old Lady as a 2-2 draw.
The equaliser caused some aggression from both sides as Michael Oliver sent off Abdoulaye Doucoure and Curtis Jones after the final whistle in tense scenes.
Before this controversy, the travelling Reds fans were picked out for what they did, which ultimately backfired in L4.
Tony Bellew hits back at Liverpool fans after Everton draw
The Anfield club desperately wanted to take the bragging rights from their final-ever away trip to Goodison Park.
This was fueled even further after Sean Dyche’s Toffees took three points off their Merseyside rivals last campaign thanks to a Jarrad Branthwaite winner.
This sparked chants from the home side of “You lost the league at Goodison Park” and it is fair to say Liverpool wanted to get one back on their local rivals, with David Moyes now the man in charge of course.
Celebrity fan Tony Bellew picked up on similar chants from the away end and reacted in typical fashion live on talkSPORT on Wednesday (12 February).
He said: “Did you hear them singing on 85 minutes, ‘We’ve won the league at Goodison Park.’ No, you haven’t, now go back home across that park, you haven’t won nothing yet.”
Liverpool fall to draw against Everton against Goodison Park
The Premier League leaders were expecting to make the extremely short trip and take three points to back home with them as they chase down the Premier League title.
It was the Toffees who had to put a stop to that and they certainly did when Beto put David Moyes’ side 1-0 up after just 11 minutes in L4.
Slot’s men took the lead through Mohamed Salah in the second half, which sparked the chants from the away fans that came back to bite them.
Tarkowski netted a famous goal to secure the point in the end which was ultimately a fair result and brought the Goodison curtain down with the Merseyside Derby win tallies level for both sides.
It is unfortunate that the clash ended in such an aggressive manner but, in the same breath, it made for a night at Goodison that no Evertonian will ever forget.
