Alcaraz transfer: Clause update emerges in permanent Everton deal trigger claim
Carlos Alcaraz’s full impact is yet to be felt by David Moyes since joining Everton on a six-month loan during the winter transfer window.
The 22-year-old, who has experienced in the Premier League before with Southampton, has made just two substitute appearances since arriving from Brazilian side Flamengo.
Having only joined until the end of the 2024/25 campaign, a clause in his contract has been revealed that states Everton will pay £12.5million if he makes a certain number of league starts.
Having proven himself at another Premier League club, many supporters would not turn down this option should the clause be triggered by the Toffees, and an update has emerged on that exact clause.
Carlos Alcaraz must start to trigger permanent transfer
According to Vene Casagrande, Alcaraz’s two substitute appearances for the Toffees do not count towards the clause in his contract to trigger a permanent deal.
The journalist reported via X [14 February] that the 22-year-old’s loan deal at Goodison Park will only be made permanent if he is handed starts by David Moyes, which has yet to do since the winter transfer window.
“As some have asked me here and on other networks… The two matches that Alcaraz has played so far for Everton do not count towards reaching the target in the loan contract with Flamengo,” he wrote.
“They only count when he is a starter.”
Alcaraz played the final 25 minutes of the 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth in the FA Cup before replacing Jesper Lindstrom during the crazy 2-2 draw against Liverpool on Wednesday 12 February.
Everton threatened by PSR concerns in winter transfer window
Moyes would have loved to have added more new faces to the squad before the winter transfer window slammed shut earlier this month, especially given the new injuries.
Orel Mangala has been ruled out for the rest of the season, joining Dwight McNeil, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja on the treatment table, as well as Seamus Coleman and Youssef Chermiti.
Como alguns me perguntaram por aqui e nas outras redes…

As duas partidas que Alacaraz disputou até agora pelo Everton não contam para bater a meta no contrato de empréstimo junto ao Flamengo. Só vale quando for titular.

The Toffees have still proven themselves despite a number of key absentees but as more and more players suffer setbacks, the more worried the manager is likely to become.
Alcaraz was certainly an intriguing signing, one who can help deliver goals in the final third, but his fight and determination will also be valued as the Toffees push up the Premier League table.
The backroom staff were extremely impressed with Alcaraz’s physical exam before making the switch from Fluminense.
While supporters were disappointed by the lack of additions, the Argentine is a superb loan signing, one who could become a permanent player on Merseyside.
