Moyes reveals Ndiaye injury update in crushing Everton blow

Everton are looking towards more optimistic times under the management of David Moyes.

Although the Blues had a slow start to the campaign under Sean Dyche, a change in management has proved to be exactly what was needed at Goodison Park.

Moyes has got his side playing some good football and picking up the results to see them move 10 points clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone.

Iliman Ndiaye ruled out for weeks at Everton

Although the Toffees have been off the pace for the majority of the campaign, one man who has managed to be a shining light throughout the campaign is Iliman Ndiaye.

The 24-year-old has made 24 Premier League appearances this term, contributing six goals across the season.

Furthermore, his ability on the ball has caused many supporters to identify Ndiaye as a standout performer at Goodison.

Since the return of Moyes to Merseyside, this has only increased and he has looked confident in his performances, adding to his goal tally.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that supporters and management were left gutted when the starman was forced off in Everton’s draw with Liverpool through injury after just 25 minutes.

The bad news has only increased too as Moyes confirmed in his pre-match press conference (14 February) that the player suffered a knee ligament injury and it won’t be a quick recovery as he said: “It is not looking great at the moment, it could be a few weeks.”

Everton star Ndiaye a loss for Moyes

Although things are certainly looking up at Goodison now, Moyes will not be keen to get too comfortable as he will not want to risk the Toffees getting pulled anywhere near the relegation battle towards the end of the season.

Therefore, having one of the standout performers of the season out for a prolonged period is not helpful as the Blues want to build upon their momentum going forward.

What is good news is that, despite having a poor season so far, Beto has shown his ability to step up in front of goal in recent weeks and the boss will certainly be calling on his other players in the side to continue delivering and filling the gap left by Ndiaye.

After an incredible late goal from James Tarkowski gained the Blues a point in their final Merseyside Derby at Goodison, this will surely serve Everton with some of the energy they need to go and pick up more points going forward.

That starts with a trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday (15 February) which is a chance for the Blues to show the boss they have what it takes, even without their star players.
