Premier League make announcement on Crystal Palace v Everton incident
Everton had their backs against the wall in the early stages of their Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
David Moyes and the Toffees travelled to Selhurst Park on the back of that crazy 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Goodison Park last time out.
After going ahead in the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, Everton nearly went behind against Palace as Jefferson Lerma thought he had headed home from a corner.
Anthony Taylor disallowed the goal as his linesman determined the ball had left the pitch before curling back in, with VAR unable to find an appropriate replay to help.
Premier League make new Everton announcement
With little time taken to check over the incident, clarity was likely needed – not that Everton care after Beto later gave them the lead going into the break.
The Premier League Match Centre has shared an update, saying there was no evidence to prove that the ball did not leave the field of play.
“VAR checked and confirmed the referee’s call of no goal due to the ball being out of play, with no conclusive evidence that the on-field decision was incorrect,” they wrote.

David Moyes delighted at Everton at Selhurst Park
After Beto managed to take advantage of a sloppy throw-in from the home side, Moyes will have been delighted with his side going into the break.
Despite having limited options and huge new injuries in his Everton squad, the away side put their bodies on the line at the back and took advantage going forward.
It would have been gutting to concede from a set-piece given how strong the likes of James Tarkowski are going forward, so the other end is just as perfect.
Lerma managed to get his head on the ball far too easily to beat Jordan Pickford, but several players appealed that the ball went out before it made it to him at the back post.
Now that incident has been cleared up and Everton are now in the lead at Selhurst Park, it is all about going on to pick up another huge three points on the road.
With Bramley Moore Dock on the horizon, a new era is beginning and that may even help VAR and officials based on the technology on show in this one.
