Gary Lineker blown away by Everton MOTD info after win v Crystal Palace – ‘Wow’
Gary Lineker was left wowed by information about Everton’s impressive form under David Moyes on Match of the Day.
Although supporters were positive about Moyes’ return to Merseyside, just how well Moyes has done has probably been a surprise for many.
A 2-1 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday (15 February) leaves the Toffees sitting 13 points away from the relegation zone.
Lineker stunned by Everton goalscoring under Moyes
Since Moyes’ return to Goodison Park, Everton have only lost one of his six games in charge showing a big turn in form under his management.
Although the Blues were a well-drilled machine defensively under the management of Sean Dyche, concerns were raised over their ability to make a difference at the top end of the pitch.
In Everton’s 3-2 victory against Tottenham on 19 January, it felt as though there was a turning point with two different players scoring, one of which was the out-of-form Dominic Calvert-Lewin, as well as a confident performance throughout the side.
Concerns were raised when Calvert-Lewin soon went on to pick up an injury but Beto, who had just one goal for the season so far, has now scored four in his last three games.
On Match of the Day (15 February) after being shown a graphic of Everton’s games and results under Moyes, with 12 goals under their belts, Lineker was left impressed as he said: “Well Moyesy’s marvels march on don’t they?
“Wow. A team that, well, they couldn’t score for toffee dare I say. But now they’re just banging them in for fun under David Moyes.”
Everton a new side under David Moyes
Quite how well the Blues have done under the guidance of Moyes this season has been surprising given there have were few additions in the winter transfer window and it is coming from the same players who looked set for a relegation fight for the first half of the campaign.
Under the management of the Scotsman, plenty of his squad seem to be playing with more freedom and also more confidence which is allowing them to take the opportunities to score.

What’s more, the reliability defensively has managed to stay in tact too and the Toffees haven’t been forced to compromise any area of their game, rather they have just added to it.
For now, those at Goodison will just be glad to get out of this campaign in one piece, far away from the relegation fight at the bottom of the table before making the move to Bramley-Moor Dock next season.
However, if this side can keep their standards high, there’s no reason why the future doesn’t look very exciting with Moyes at the helm working under the new Friedkin Group ownership.
