Beto hailed as new £30m Everton claim emerges from Goodison Park
Beto has been hailed after his recent performances for Everton, despite even his biggest admirers being unlikely to support him over the past year.
The striker was left out of Sean Dyche’s plans when he was in charge at Goodison Park but since David Moyes has returned, he’s managed to get the best out of the former Udinese man.
In his last three Premier League games, the Guinea-Bissau international has bagged four goals and has become the Toffees’ new focal point.
This has come as a bit of a surprise to many with Phil McNulty sharing his thoughts on his recent form.
Beto could be the Everton saviour
Moyes’ return to Goodison Park is arguably one of the best things that a Premier League club has done this term.
Before the Scotsman was re-hired, Everton seemed down and out with their only way of escaping the drop zone being to make multiple additions in the winter transfer window.
However, seen as though only Carlos Alcaraz was added to Everton’s ranks, Moyes has managed to make the best out of a bad situation and has instilled belief back into the Merseyside outfit instantly.
Writing for the BBC Sport website (17 February) after an Everton fan asked whether McNulty would be revising his statement that Beto wasn’t a £30million striker, the BBC chief responded: “All I will say is that up until two weeks ago, I’m not sure even Beto’s biggest admirers would say he looked like a £30m striker.
“Now we come to Beto under David Moyes, who has got him playing to his strengths and running into channels rather than with his back towards goal, plus the fact that Everton are actually playing forward and quickly has also been to his benefit.
“He has looked composed, a real focal point and a handful. One thing you could never accuse Beto of was a lack of effort, so it is great to see his endeavour rewarded.
“If he continues this form, consistently, then I will be very happy to revise my opinion. He has been excellent in the last few weeks.”

Everton have a lot to thank David Moyes for
It’s undeniable that Moyes’ return to Goodison Park is the main reason behind the Toffees’ revival.
The Scotsman was brought in as what seemed to be a bit of a last-chance punt, but, it has paid off tenfold in the Premier League.
Before Dyche was relieved of his duties, Everton seemed down and out with rival fans saying that the 2024/25 season would be the one where the Merseyside outfit finally got themselves relegated.
However, since the former West Ham United manager has returned, everything has started to fall into place with the Toffees now 13 points clear of the bottom three and sitting comfortably in 14th place.
There are still 13 games left in the season of course but at this moment in time, it feels unlikely that any of the bottom three teams are going to make up enough ground to not drop down to the second tier.
Only time will tell what the future holds but for now, everything is going fairly smoothly at Goodison Park.
