Jarrad Branthwaite reveals what David Moyes has changed at Everton

Jarrad Branthwaite has shared what David Moyes has changed at Everton after a big upturn in form at Goodison Park.

The Blues looked destined for a Premier League relegation battle this term with Sean Dyche at the helm.

However, since Moyes’ return to Goodison, the Blues have seen their form improve dramatically and they now sit 13 points above the Premier League relegation zone.

Jarrad Branthwaite credits David Moyes for Everton improvement

In five Premier League games under Moyes’ management, the Toffees have lost just one, which has seen them create a nice distance between themselves and the relegation zone.

A big issue for the Blues throughout the campaign had been their lack of ability to score goals, despite having defensive solidity.

Between the injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Armando Broja and Beto, the strikers had just four goals across the campaign showing a real lack of force at the top end of the pitch.

However, this too has changed under the Moyes and Everton have scored 12 goals in these fixtures.

Beto is in particularly improved form having contributed four goals in his last three games.

Speaking to the official club website, Branthwaite shared the changes, saying: “I think before he came in, we had that defensive resilience, the structure and I think he’s maybe brought in the bit of attacking flair, attacking knowledge and structure.

“Everyone knows the positions to be in and we’re creating loads more chances. I think you can see that throughout the games that he’s been in charge.

“We’re working on different positions for the attackers and different runs to make to open the defence and I think you can see it’s working.

“The more times we get the ball in the box as well; we’ve got a bigger chance of scoring. I think that’s something we’ve been focusing on – to put it in dangerous areas and see what comes from it. We’re doing well so far, so let’s hope it continues.”

Everton looking ahead to better times with David Moyes

Moyes is an experienced manager and will not be keen to get ahead of himself when it comes to Everton’s survival in the Premier League this term until anything is mathematically confirmed.

However, with the form that the Blues are in now, it looks like this security could arrive a lot earlier than expected when he first arrived which takes a lot of pressure off.

It’s clear to see the players are much more confident in the way they are playing under Moyes and based on Branthwaite’s comments, he has come in well-prepared to do plenty of work to develop the areas where Everton were lacking under his predecessor.

The Toffees are in a period of change having recently been taken over by the Friedkin Group and they are preparing to move to Bramley Moore Dock at the end of the season, where a first test event was held on Monday.

There is plenty of work to be done behind the scenes to secure a stable future for Everton ahead but with the way they are performing at the moment, supporters will know it is looking bright under Moyes.
