David Moyes admission shared at Everton amid ‘spectacular’ verdict
David Moyes’ return to Goodison Park has been full of nothing but joy for Everton fans thus far.
The Merseyside outfit are now 14th in the Premier League table and have a 13-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone thanks to the Scotsman’s impact.
Granted, there’s still 13 games left in the domestic season but with the current form they find themselves in, it’s hard to see how Moyes’ men would capitulate enough to drop into the relegation spots.
BBC Merseyside journalist Ian Kennedy gave his opinion on the impact the former West Ham United boss has had since his return.

David Moyes’ Everton return has been “spectacular”
In the Toffees’ last five Premier League games, they’ve managed to add 13 points to their overall tally.
And, the fact they managed to net a 95th-minute equaliser against Liverpool in the most recent Merseyside derby is the epitome of how things are going in the blue half of Merseyside at the moment.
Writing for the BBC Sport website (19 February), Kennedy lauded Moyes’ impact and singled out two players who have stood out from the crowd over the last week or so.
“The games can’t come soon enough for Everton. The change brought about by David Moyes has been spectacular,” he wrote
“They are now looking up rather than over their shoulder, and Saturday’s win at Crystal Palace showed they can grind out a victory – and away from home too.
“That’s two on the spin. Coming so soon after that epic derby match made it all the more impressive.
“Beto is rejuvenated, Carlos Alcaraz is showing great early promise, and the whole team are working their socks off.
“They always did of course but this time they have the added confidence of a side who’ve rediscovered that winning feeling.”
The Friedkin Group have made one of the best decisions in the Premier League
While some were questioning The Friedkin Group’s decision to sack Sean Dyche and re-hire Moyes, it’s a move that has more than paid off.
The Toffees are in their best form of the season and, to be quite frank, it feels like they’re showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.
Manager | Points in Premier League | Games Played |
Sean Dyche | 13 | 6 |
David Moyes | 17 | 19 |
As Kennedy mentioned, the likes of Beto have seen their Goodison careers rejuvenated due to the Scotsman’s return and to be quite frank, it feels like he’s saved them from another season of despair.
When Dyche was at the helm, it felt like Everton were on a one-way street towards relegation which has seemed to be the case for the last few seasons.
However, Moyes has managed to instil belief into his team and now, it feels like they’re more than safe which is likely all that Toffees fans wanted going into the 2024/25 season.
So, now that their safety feels like it’s guaranteed, it feels like the only question that remains is how high up the table Everton can get by the end of the term.
