Everton twist emerges after major Angus Kinnear talks at Goodison Park
Everton have been handed a major twist as talks have taken place with Leeds United for Angus Kinnear.
The Friedkin Group (TFG) are looking to make changes at the Toffees, and the Whites’ chief executive officer is on their radar.
Kinnear could potentially move to Goodison Park as the Friedkins have identified him as the front-runner to join the Blues’ backroom staff.
The 47-year-old still has 18 months remaining on his deal at the West Yorkshire outfit, which has led to a further development in the saga.
Angus Kinnear compensation needed for Everton move
With Kinnear’s contract running until 2026, the Merseyside outfit would be required to pay compensation to secure his services, according to The Athletic.
The news outlet reports (20 February) that while the Toffees have been in discussions with Leeds, a decision is yet to be made on the 47-year-old as several contenders are in the race regarding the vacant CEO role.
It has been claimed that the Blues’ pursuit of Kinnear could be complicated by the West Yorkshire outfit’s promotion push.
The Whites are currently at the top of the Championship and are set for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Changes needed at Goodison Park after Farhad Moshiri tenure
Kevin Thewell may leave Goodison Park at the end of the season when his Everton contract expires.
TFG have Brighton’s David Weir on their radar, but it remains to be seen whether he will want to leave a tight-run ship in East Sussex, with the Seagulls setting an example for other teams over the years with their management.
David Moyes’ appointment at Goodison Park has worked wonders for the new American owners and fans will be confident they can get the right people in the Toffees’ revamped boardroom.
The Blues were in a relegation battle under Sean Dyche but now find themselves 13 points clear of the drop zone.
Farhad Moshiri mismanaged the club in several ways, and the most significant issue under the British-Iranian businessman was the underwhelming recruitment.
The Merseyside outfit had some poor final seasons when Moshiri was at the helm, and changes were definitely needed.
