Everton news round-up: Moyes to stay away from ground, Thelwell replacement found
Everton return to Premier League action on Saturday after a week off, but that is not to say there has not been much happening around the club.
While David Moyes’ focus will be on the visit of Manchester United to Goodison Park, Toffees chiefs are also supposedly looking to bring in a replacement for Kevin Thelwell.
Moyes himself spoke to the press on Friday (21 February) ahead of facing United and made a new admission with regards to the Toffees’ new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
All that and more is rounded up as part of Goodison News‘ evening briefing.
Everton all set to wrap up ‘unusual’ Alcaraz transfer agreement
According to a report from Paul Joyce, Everton are set to complete an “unusual” deal for Carlos Alcaraz.
Joyce uses that word to describe a likely permanent switch to Goodison Park for Alcaraz as it is not common for South American players to return to England for a second spell.
Alcaraz was previously on the books at Southampton and has impressed since making the move to Goodison Park on a temporary basis, which the club hope to make permanent.

Everton to replace another senior figure as well as Kevin Thelwell
Everton are expected to replace another senior figure at Goodison Park along with Thelwell, who looks to be on his way out.
Dan Purdy is also set to be replaced by the Merseyside outfit in the coming months, according to the Daily Mirror.
The newspaper reports that Thelwell and the Toffees’ chief scout Purdy will likely depart soon.
Parlour amazed by what Brazil said about Everton v Man Utd
Ray Parlour was left amazed by what Alan Brazil said ahead of the Premier League clash between Everton and Man United.
Speaking live on talkSPORT, Brazil and Parlour gave their verdicts on Moyes’ return to management.
Brazil said: “Man United head to Goodison for the first time and come up against a familiar face in the dugout, David Moyes, who’s turned the Toffees into the form team in the Premier League.
“And, they go into the game above Manchester United, can you believe that?”
Parlour replied: “Yeah, I know – amazing.”
Top target emerges to replace Kevin Thelwell
The Friedkin Group have identified their top target as Thelwell is expected to leave Everton this summer.
The first choice has been revealed as David Weir, who’s currently the technical director at Brighton, according to The Mirror.
However, despite his affinity to the Toffees, Weir is set to snub a return to the club.
He does not have any desire to become the sporting director and return to Merseyside as he fancies an extended stay at the Amex Stadium.

David Moyes to stay away from Everton’s new stadium
Everton Stadium is just months away from becoming the new home of Moyes’ side, but he’s yet to experience it for himself.
Asked at a press conference on Friday what he makes of the new ground at Bramley-Moore Dock, Moyes said: “I wanted to ask you what it looked like…
“I’ve said I’m not going to go down there until it’s confirmed that we’re a Premier League club.”
Fingers crossed for Moyes that Premier League status is confirmed sooner rather than later so he can have a personal tour of the impressive new ground.
