Paul Merson makes ‘Simply Incredible’ David Moyes admission at Everton

David Moyes returned to Everton in January and it is safe to say he’s enjoyed a positive start to life back at Goodison.

The Scot came back to L4 to take over from Sean Dyche after things had turned sour under the ex-Burnley boss.

The style of play had become turgid and difficult to watch, to the point where Toffees fans weren’t necessarily enjoying wins at times.

It is safe to say that this has changed under the new regime with Paul Merson sharing his verdict after one defeat in six Premier League games.

The most recent result against Crystal Palace was a reminder of just how tactically astute the 61-year-old can be on the sidelines.

His side knew when to sit back and soak up pressure but also was able to get on the ball and create plenty of chances of their own.

Despite losing Iliman Ndiaye through injury, the Toffees were still able to win at Selhurst Park to make it 13 points from a possible 18 since Moyes returned.

This has made former Arsenal and Aston Villa star Merson eat his words after suggesting that the former Goodison boss wasn’t the right man to replace Dyche.

Speaking to Sportskeeda (21 February), he said: “When Moyes came back to Everton after the departure of Sean Dyche, I personally didn’t think it was the right move.

“But look at the job he has done at Goodison Park so far, simply incredible.”

David Moyes shining at Everton ahead of Manchester United clash

The Scottish head coach is receiving plenty of admirers for the difference he has made since returning to L4 earlier in the year.

This has come as a surprise to some but, ultimately, after what was a highly successful spell at West Ham Moyes is just proving his class once more.

Now he has a clash against his former side Manchester United to look forward to as the Toffees welcome the Red Devils to Goodison on Saturday (22 February).

It will certainly be interesting to see if the L4 side can take advantage of Ruben Amorim’s failing side and maintain their excellent form.
