Everton v Manchester United incident sparks call for PGMOL to react
Keith Hackett has called for change after what he saw play out as Everton drew with Manchester United on Saturday.
Everton were pegged back by Man United in a 2-2 at Goodison Park as they were frustrated as David Moyes faced his former side.
Beto continued to prove his doubters wrong by opening the scoring after 19 minutes, before Abdoulaye Doucoure added a second with 33 minutes on the clock.
The Red Devils fought back through Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte to leave the Toffees frustrated before Ashley Young was denied a penalty in late VAR drama.
However, it was the process for the awarding of Beto’s first goal that frustrated ex-PGMOL chief Hackett.

Beto’s goal was allowed to stand after a VAR check lasting more than three minutes, with the Premier League releasing a statement on the matter.
The officials at Stockley Park were checking various incidents in the build-up to Beto firing home, but ultimately the goal was given.
While the correct decision was reached, former PGMOL chief Hackett is unsure why it took so long and has called on VAR chiefs to speed up the process going forward.
“I am bemused that these decisions are taking so long,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“You can see that the left-back has played the player onside and the decision to award the goal is the correct one.
“These delays undermine the final decision. These guys at Stockley Park must improve the speed of the decision.“
Everton miss great opportunity v Manchester United
Everton have taken 14 points from their past six matches in a sensational revival under Moyes, who replaced Sean Dyche at Goodison Park last month.
But there will be a huge sense of an opportunity missed this time around, with Everton having taken such a commanding and deserved lead against Man United.
Frustratingly, the quickfire goals from Fernandes and Ugarte ruined what had been excellent work up until that point.
Sure, there was disappointment late in the day with the decision not to award Everton a penalty to Young, but even accounting for that there was a great opportunity missed by Everton this afternoon.
Still, at least it wasn’t a defeat and the feelgood factor is certainly high at the minute, and there is plenty to be optimistic about moving forward.
