Man United mocked by Everton fans as BBC share what Goodison Park chanted
Beto’s opening goal for Everton against Manchester United on Saturday sparked some taunting chants from the home fans at Goodison Park.
David Moyes‘ Toffees went into the half-time break 2-0 up against Ruben Amorim’s hapless Red Devils, exploiting the visitors’ weakness from set-piece situations with two close-range finishes.
Beto struck first from close range – scoring a fifth goal in his last four games – after United failed to clear a corner, before Abdoulaye Doucoure popped up at the far post to double their lead with a bullet header.
Everton’s opener just under 20 minutes in provided the cue for bedlam in the stands at Goodison as it hosts an Everton-Manchester United match for the final time, with plenty of fun had by the home fans.

Everton fans aim ‘going down’ chants at Manchester United
Beto firing in from right in front, capitalising after the visitors had two chances to clear their lines and failed with both, gave Toffees fans the perfect opportunity to rub salt in their wounds.
Reporting for the BBC at Goodison (22 February, 12:51pm), journalist Shamoon Hafez heard taunting chants towards the Manchester United fans after Beto struck from close range to open the scoring.
Hafez said: “Another shambles of a goal to concede from a Manchester United perspective. How many chances did they have to clear that ball?
“Going down, going down, going down,” sing the Everton supporters in the direction of the United ones.”

Everton and Manchester United’s fortunes flipped in 2025
Based on Everton’s first-half display – heading into the break two goals to the good having dominated United in the final third – it’s hard to believe they were thumped 4-0 by the Red Devils just 10 weeks ago.
That Old Trafford blitzing proved to be one of the darkest days in the final weeks of Sean Dyche’s tenure, and arguably spelled the beginning of the end for the 53-year-old at Goodison as Everton’s fans turned.
Since David Moyes – a former Manchester United manager of course – returned to the blue half of Merseyside though, the Toffees haven’t looked back, and are well on course to make it five wins from six.
Beto is a striker transformed and increasingly becoming the scourge of Premier League defences, and that opening goal is his fifth in seven appearances under Moyes – more than he netted in 42 with Dyche.
Doucoure has also become an undroppable figure in the number 10 role for Everton, and his goal shows that Moyes’ bold pre-match call to drop Carlos Alcaraz for the Malian has certainly paid off thus far.
