Stuart Pearce ‘shocked’ live on air after what he saw in Everton v Man United

Stuart Pearce was left shocked after what he saw as Everton faced Manchester United.

Goodison Park hosted Ruben Amorim’s team in the Premier League on Saturday (22 February) and extended their unbeaten run.

Beto’s opener was given after a lengthy VAR check, and Abdoulaye Doucoure scored the second for the Toffees in the first half, but Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte restored parity as the game ended 2-2.

David Moyes failed to get a win over his former side, but despite the Red Devils’ comeback, their unimpressive display wasn’t taken well by Pearce.

Man United performance v Everton one of the worst

Pearce feels Man United put in one of their worst performances at Goodison Park.

The Englishman was surprised at what he saw from Amorim’s team in the draw and felt the players did not give it their all.

Pearce believes the Merseyside outfit weren’t at their best, yet they still managed to get the better of the Red Devils at home in the opening 45 minutes.

Speaking on talkSPORT (22 February, 13:25), the 62-year-old said: “I’m quite shocked, to be fair. I don’t think I’ve seen a Man United performance this bad in all the time I’ve seen them.

“You can trade with a badge on your chest, it doesn’t give you sort of an immune power to play well. You’ve got to put some sweat on your shirt, and you’ve got to keep possession of the ball.

“And Everton, I don’t think they’ve been. But they’ve been so comfortable, and they’ve just grown in the game because Man United have allowed them to.”

Moyes continues Goodison Park fairytale

Moyes deserved immense credit at Goodison for what he has done since returning to the dugout.

The Friedkin Group’s decision to sack Sean Dyche has worked wonders for the Merseyside outfit, as they now find themselves clear of the relegation zone.

Supporters were fearful that the former Burnley manager would take the Toffees down to the Championship after how the team performed under him.

Moyes has ensured the Merseysiders are clear of the drop after what has been an impressive run of results, as they have now gone six games unbeaten in the league.

The Blues have climbed up the table and opened the gap with the bottom three sides, all but ensuring their survival in the Premier League.

Unless something drastic happens in the coming months, the Toffees are set to start the next season at Bramley Moore Dock in the English top flight.

Man United have been underwhelming for most of the campaign, and while Moyes failed to hold on to the lead, his team did well for most of the game.

The Scottish manager ensured Amorim’s team couldn’t do much, which goes to show how good of a job he has done since coming back.
