Bramley-Moore Dock cash windfall emerges as Everton ‘bigger picture’ revealed

Everton may have received a small cash windfall after recent developments at the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, Dan Plumley has said.

The Toffees will wave goodbye to Goodison Park as they prepare to move to Bramley-Moore Dock at the start of next season.

Everton conducted the first test event at their new home on 17 February, with 10,000 fans in attendance as the Under-18s succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Wigan Athletic.

Dan Plumley moots Everton finances after Bramley-Moore Dock test event

With another test event with 25,000 fans planned in late March or early April, Plumley has discussed the possibility of Everton receiving a cash windfall from the game against Wigan.

The football finance expert suggested that the fans may have been given free tickets for the game and added that potential income from food and beverage inside the stadium would have been minimal.

However, he pointed out that the Merseyside-based club would be looking at the “bigger picture” as they look to get the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium ready for next season and avoid any hiccups.

“Certainly, there would have been some kind of free ticket aspect to that, I think it is fair to say”, Plumley exclusively told Goodison News.

“I’m not sure about the other events, you might be able to charge a nominal fee, but I have not seen anything.

“Of course, there will be money that has been spent inside the arena on food and beverage, which again, if the club have got a percentage share in that or take some money from that, then that’s probably a little bit of a windfall.

David Moyes to lead new era

“But yes, it will be minimal in financial terms in terms of gain for the club. This is all about making sure the stadium is ready to go, and is operational.

“When you host the first game with a full house, you have to make sure that you’ve got through any of those teething problems.

“So probably limited financial gains for these, but all about the bigger picture of getting it ready, and from what I’ve seen, it looks an impressive stadium, and I’m sure the fans will be really looking forward to a full house in there next season.”

At the start of the year, there were fears that Everton may start the new era at the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium as a Championship club as they lingered near the relegation zone under Sean Dyche.

However, David Moyes, who replaced Dyche in January, has since breathed new life into the players as the Toffees now sit 14th in the table, one point above Manchester United.

It is all systems go ahead of yet more Premier League football.
