TFG on verge of major new Everton hire thanks to specialist recruitment partners

Everton are set to confirm the appointment of a brand new chief executive after making the role a top priority at Goodison Park.

Daily Mail journalist Mike Keegan posted on X (26 February) to report that with The Friedkin Group re-shaping the boardroom with the held of “renowned recruiters” Nolan Partners, they’ve found their man.

Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear is the figure who will step into the breach at Everton following their move to Bramley-Moore Dock, despite the Friedkin Group wanting to fill the position as soon as possible.

Kinnear has made clear his intention to stay put at Elland Road until the end of the season as Leeds close in on promotion back to the Premier League, with talks expected to take place between the two clubs.

Angus Kinnear set for Everton CEO appointment

With Kinnear keen to finish the job with Leeds and only depart West Yorkshire if and when they’ve joined Everton in the Premier League once again, the Toffees face a nervous wait over when he’ll take charge.

The former Arsenal and West Ham board member is currently on an open-ended contract at Elland Road which he won’t simply be able to walk away from, thus talks will surely take place between now and May.

For the time being, therefore, Colin Chong will continue in his current role as interim CEO at Goodison Park, having been one of very few previous board members kept on following the Friedkins’ takeover.

Everton preparing for new era on and off the pitch

Similar to his tenures with Arsenal and West Ham (and likely Leeds had they remained in the top-flight), one of Kinnear’s main tasks at Everton will be to help oversee the transition to their brand new stadium.

Kinnear was heavily involved in the Gunners’ and Hammers’ moves to the Emirates and Olympic Stadiums respectively, and is set to arrive on Merseyside with the Toffees making a move of their own.

Everton Stadium on Liverpool’s waterfront, however, is built and practically up and running already, with last Monday’s test event seeing 10,000 Everton fans come through its doors for the very first time.

A new era beckons on the blue half of Merseyside, and with a new-look squad under David Moyes set to be matched by a new-look boardroom at Bramley-Moore Dock, that future is starting to take shape.
