Exclusive: David Moyes to sign off on new TFG arrival for ‘significant pay rise’

Angus Kinnear could be set to benefit financially after recent developments surrounding a potential move from Leeds United to Everton.

David Moyes’ bright start to his Everton return continued as the Toffees made it seven Premier League games unbeaten with a 1-1 draw against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Wednesday (26 February).

And it looks as though things are moving in the right direction off the pitch too.

And it looks as though that appointment has taken a massive step closer toward completion.

Kinnear set to join Everton from Leeds United

As reported by Mike Keegan via X (26 February), Kinnear is set to become the new Everton CEO at the end of the season. Talks will take place with the 47-year-old first keen to see through Leeds’ return to the Premier League.

Everton sources believe that a deal to bring Kinnear to Merseyside is already “done” [Leeds United News].

However, ex-Everton scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – would have preferred to see David Harrison brought back to Goodison Park.

“Of course Kinnear will be getting a significant pay rise,” King said.

“He would have been sold by Everton on the new stadium and the direction the club is heading in. However, Moyes will need to rubberstamp this move as well.

“It isn’t Kinnear who has got Leeds in a position where they look like they will be promoted. He might have been part of a team, but it isn’t all down to him.

This move doesn’t really excite me if I’m being honest.

Somebody like Harrison would have excited me, because he has worked closely with Moyes.”

Everton continue to move forward under TFG

Some might wonder why Kinnear would be keen to join Everton right after Leeds have returned to the Premier League, which is looking like an increasingly likely outcome. However, if he is getting a pay rise, that would certainly explain why.

In addition, he might be keen for a new start, and the Toffees seem to be heading in a positive direction under Moyes and the Friedkin Group.

Therefore, it looks as though for once, supporters will be able to look forward to a new season.
