Sky Sports reveal major Jarrad Branthwaite contract news at Everton

Everton have not just grown in form since the return of David Moyes, but now their talismanic defender is back, they look a far stronger force.

Jarrad Branthwaite struggled with injuries across a significant part of this season, with fans gutted given how hard Everton had worked to fend off bids in the summer.

Manchester United led the charge for his signature before the season started, coinciding with his England debut against Bosnia back in June.

Everton contract news drops on Branthwaite

Everton hope to be able to secure Branthwaite to a new contract as they prepare to move to the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium this summer, but face a huge fight on their hands.

It will be similar to what they experienced last year and then some, with Sky Sports‘ Lyall Thomas exclusively revealing (28 February) that Branthwaite is set to be chased by a “string” of Champions League competitors.

The Three Lions defender is under contract with the Toffees until 2027, having signed his last deal in 2023 but would be expecting an enormous hike in wages this time around.

Thomas posted on X: “Jarrad Branthwaite would be open to discussing a new deal with Everton, but they face a fight to keep him with a string of Champions League clubs set to pursue the England centre-back this summer.”

Toffees ready to resume Branthwaite fight

Everton know they will have to throw any numbers Branthwaite wants at the young centre-half to keep him on Merseyside this time around.

Manchester United are one matter – the size of the Red Devils will always prevail over many clubs competing above their station at various levels in Europe, but now Real Madrid have entered the equation.

The Toffees are anticipated by Bryan King to be keen to offer a whopping £150,000 per week to Branthwaite, which would make him comfortably the highest-paid player in Moyes’ squad.

Branthwaite has enjoyed a meteoric rise

Of course, this wage would be light work in negotiations for 15-time European champions Real – and this is the kind of magnitude of interest Everton know they are up against.

Branthwaite has made 22 appearances in all competitions for the Blues so far this season, having been absent for much of Sean Dyche’s time since the summer before he was replaced by Moyes last month.
