Friedkin Group ‘to make imminent announcement’ as new Everton hire close

Everton are preparing for a summer of significant change as they edge closer to securing their Premier League status, with The Friedkin Group set to make an imminent announcement.

David Moyes has overseen a significant upturn in Everton’s form since taking charge on 9 January, leading the Blues on a run of four wins in his eight matches; the last seven of which they’re unbeaten in.

As a result, and with their move across Liverpool to Bramley-Moore Dock looming in the summer, The Friedkin Group are now turning their attention towards taking the club in its new direction for the future.

With several changes at boardroom level having already been made since TFG took charge at Goodison Park in December, the Americans are by no means finished in their reshaping of Everton Football Club.

Everton appointments to continue amid changes to Moyes role

While TFG have already made sweeping changes in the boardroom at Goodison, the likes of Colin Chong remain on the books in interim capacities as Everton’s new owners look to fill roles with their top targets.

The i Paper, however, reported on 3 March that a series of new announcements are expected “imminently” at Goodison, with TFG looking to create a structure which can support an immediate push for Europe.

Current director of football Kevin Thelwell is set to depart the Merseyside club once his contract expires at the end of the season, with a view to giving David Moyes more influence over Everton’s transfer policy.

Leeds United chief executive Angus Kinnear has also been identified as TFG’s first choice to become the Toffees’ new CEO, and Everton are “increasingly confident” they can pluck him from Elland Road.

Everton overhaul continues under The Friedkin Group

Evertonians had almost forgotten what it’s like to have a feel-good factor surrounding Goodison Park, but since the Friedkin Group made their first major decision to bring back Moyes, all has been rosy.

Sean Dyche’s departure at the end of the season already looked inevitable given the Blues’ form earlier this season, but fast-tracking that decision has proven to be a shrewd move on the Friedkins’ part.

With Thelwell also looking set to depart at season’s end and Kinnear’s arrival further reshaping the club’s top brass, it remains to be seen if a new director of football will be in situ following the CEO appointment.

However, given the impact Moyes has made since retaking the reins on Merseyside, it’s hardly surprising to see TFG keen on giving him more power, and that’s some which Everton fans will surely relish too.
