Everton ‘eye Burnley star Maxime Esteve’ as development emerges abroad

David Moyes is set to revamp his Everton side in the summer transfer window and Burnley star Maxime Esteve could be his first addition.

The Scotsman has led the Blues to a nine-match unbeaten run in the Premier League but will already be planning for next season.

It promises to be an exciting summer as the Friedkin Group’s backroom changes take effect with Moyes set to backed by the American owners – and the centre-back could be one of several signings.

Everton face competition for Burnley ace Maxime Esteve

The Blues are eyeing a move for Burnley defender Esteve, according to Alan Nixon via his personal Patreon account [16 March].

However, the report claims that they will face competition from AC Milan for the 22-year-old’s signature in a development that has now emerged from abroad, with their interest said to have cranked up.

It states that the Italian outfit, the Toffees and West Ham sent scouts to watch the Frenchman in the draw with West Brom on 11 March.

Esteve move would signal Everton intent

If the Goodison Park outfit could beat AC Milan and the Hammers to a deal for the France Under-23s international, it would signal the new owners’ ambitions to take the club into the higher echelons.

Moyes is keen to strengthen his squad significantly as he seeks to push Everton into the top half and potentially battle for European qualification next season and far away from a relegation battle, which had become the norm in recent years under Sean Dyche.

Given that Burnley have shown a similar defensive solidity to Moyes’ side, Esteve could be ready to step straight into the squad and fight for a first-team place.

He has been one of the standout defenders in the second tier this season, and his stock is rising rapidly as a result of an impressive spell of clean sheets for the Clarets as they battle for automatic promotion.

Whether the Blues can secure his signature ahead of their rivals remains to be seen, but it will be an exciting summer with the club linked to quality players rather than shopping in the bargain basement. If they can secure a deal, it would be a great first addition.
