Everton lead race to sign ‘reliable’ Tom Fellows amid £20m news – Sky Sports host
David Prutton has reacted to the prospect of Everton signing highly-rated West Brom winger Tom Fellows this summer.
Fellows’ form for West Brom across the last two Championship seasons has drawn attention from many a Premier League club, and as Everton look to rebuild this summer, he’s right at the top of their list.
The Toffees’ need for a right winger has been exacerbated by the inconsistent performances of Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison this term, and they are in pole position to sign Fellows for £20million.
David Moyes is set to take a hands-on role in Everton’s transfer activity this summer after the impending departure of Kevin Thelwell, and he could lead the pursuit of Fellows to address their problem position.

David Prutton backs Tom Fellows to flourish at Everton
Though Everton are yet to strike an agreement with West Brom over their 21-year-old academy product, the Blues are the favourites to secure his signature, particularly if Albion remain in the Championship.
Player | Appearances | Starts | Goals | Assists |
Tom Fellows | 37 | 29 | 2 | 11 |
Speaking to Football League World (18 March), Sky Sports host David Prutton was excited for what the future holds for Fellows, and argued a transfer could be inevitable if West Brom don’t win promotion.
Prutton said: “Everton are watching the West Brom winger – who has grown right before our eyes. He’s developing – I say developing, because at 21 there’s still a hell of a long way to go in his career hopefully.
“He’s brought a final ball to all the trickery with the ball at his feet, which means he has been a reliable outlet for assists.
“I think, given the structure of the Championship and clubs in the Championship, everybody has got their price.
“The fact that he has got that contract until the summer of 2027, means that hopefully within that, it’s been built that if he does go, he commands a sizeable fee.
“I think the potential to leave if they don’t go up is huge.”

Tom Fellows an unknown quantity ahead of Everton transfer
While Fellows has indeed impressed in the Championship for West Brom and his 11 league assists would be a dream for the likes of Beto, signing players from the second-tier always carries an inherent risk.
At 21, Fellows is still a raw talent, and though 11 assists is commendable, two goals in his 37 appearances may not convince Everton to part with £20m to sign a player who lacks ruthlessness in the final third.
However, with other Premier League clubs interested in the England youth international, the fear of missing out could sway the Toffees – at Moyes’ behest – to sign Fellows ahead of the competition.
Dan Friedkin’s takeover last December is set to afford Everton the financial liberties which have been unheard of in recent years, with Fellows potentially set to become one of the faces of the Blues’ new era.
