Friedkin ally joins Everton in behind-scenes development as document emerges

The Friedkin Group have added one of their trusted allies to their books at Everton in a new behind-the-scenes development.

There has been an array of changes at Goodison Park since Dan Friedkin and Co completed the takeover of Everton in December, with Angus Kinnear’s appointment as the new CEO starting 1 June being the biggest one.

Kevin Thelwell is confirmed to leave his role as the director of football at the end of the season, while chief commercial and communications officer Richard Kenyon and Everton Women CEO Alan McTavish are among other high-profile exits.

Everton confirm Eric Williamson appointment

In the latest behind-the-scenes update, Everton have confirmed that they have appointed Eric Williamson as a director to their board.

The Esk shared a Companies House document in the name of Everton Football Club Limited that confirmed Williamson’s appointment on his personal X account on Monday (24 March).

With the date of appointment being 24 March, the American has ‘consented to act as a director’ at Everton.

It is worth noting that Williamson is also serving as a board member at Roma, who are also owned by The Friedkin Group.

The Esk proven right about Williamson

Paul Quinn had speculated the possibility of the executive joining the Friedkins at Everton as early as November when the takeover was still in the process of completion.

At the time, The Esk described Williamson as “the Friedkins’ fixer”, meaning he is their go-to guy to solve any sort of issue that arises within their businesses.

While he is a board member at Roma, it appears he has been handed a more senior role at Goodison Park, with his position defined as a director.

It now remains to be seen what sort of an impact he will have at Everton as the Friedkins continue transforming the club behind the scenes.
